Condition
Young Boy and His Puppy: signed A.K. Stoddard (lower right)oil on canvas laid down to panel30 x 25 in.The work has been laid down to panel. In overall good condition. With light rubbing at center right in the background, accompanied by a few minor paint losses. Examination under UV light reveals a thick layer of milky green varnish throughout the composition. We notice broad inpainting in the background along the right outer edge of the canvas. Some more meticulous inpainting at bottom left corner, along with the area around the dog's face (likely old inpainted flakes). Minor retouching by the child's outer lips, and in a curl of his hair at upper center. Additional images available upon request.
